Volkswagen Clever Anti-Texting Ad Targets Moviegoers

This past June, Volkswagen released a new and clever interactive anti-texting PSA titled Eyes on the Road. Since the video's YouTube debut on June 6, it has racked up nearly 26 million views. Anti-texting videos designed to go viral are nothing new. As's Chris Bruce points out in a June 6 blog post on this story, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ran a graphic commercial in April appealing to young people about the dangers of texting and driving. What makes VW's effort unique though is that it engages the audience of moviegoers in a multi-dimensional interactive way - through a text message that it timed to coincide with the action on the screen.

For most of us in the U.S., driving in summer means dealing with the occasional thunderstorm. The combination of long, hot dry spells with torrential downpours can turn your average road into the equivalent of a backyard “slip and slide.”
